She knew what to do. She needed a push to start.

17 lbs down · 22 inches off · Body fat mid 30s% → 32%

If this is you: Early 30s, engaged, a desk job that eats the day. You're not out of shape exactly. You could run a half marathon on a dare. But you eat out most nights, you know what you should be doing, and you haven't started.

Where Caroline started

Caroline is an engineer in her early 30s. Some days she works from home, some days from the office, and sometimes the job sends her away for a stretch. She and her fiancé signed up together about a year out from their wedding. The goal was simple: not look and feel the same on the wedding day as they did right then.

She wasn't a beginner. The week Gabby met them, the two of them had just run a half marathon together, and Caroline's legs were wrecked for days. She'd pushed through it without really being trained for it, which told Gabby a lot about how she'd handle the gym.

But she wasn't a gym person either. Desk work kept her sitting most of the day, and two busy engineers with no time to cook ate out a lot. Not badly. Just with no idea how much.

What Gabby saw

Around 160 lbs, body fat in the mid 30s, the average range. A hip shift and some side-to-side imbalances, the kind that come from sitting in the same position all day. One hip rotated a lot less than the other.

None of that was the real limiter. Neither was knowledge. Caroline is smart and already knew what healthy eating looks like. What she was missing was a reason to start doing it. No structure, no tracking, no protein target. Gabby called it "a needed activation energy." Just a small push to try it and see.

The first thing they changed

The most basic food list Kraken has, plus one protein goal. That was the whole plan for the first stretch. Simple enough to keep up with on office days, home days and travel days.

It worked slowly, which is how it's supposed to work. Once the food list was second nature, Caroline and her fiancé asked to move to full macro tracking themselves. Gabby didn't have to sell it. "Once we built the habit of tracking macros, she's been so good about it."

She checked every box in the app, weighed in daily, logged her workouts and took her progress photos. When someone is already doing that much, adding more is easy.

The hard part

From May to July the scale moved from 163 to 157. Steady, not dramatic, while she got stronger. By August the deficit had caught up with her. Everyone around her was enjoying summer, eating out, having drinks, and she'd been tracking for months.

Gabby saw it coming and offered a planned break for August. Not "let me know when you're ready." A set month off, with a date to restart and a plan for what came next. The weight went up a little during the break, which is never fun to watch.

Then the date came and she came back on schedule. Gabby's words: "the most beautiful, consistent decline in weight."

When it clicked

Two things lined up that fall. The first was the morning switch. They'd started out training after work, tired and going through the motions. They moved their sessions to first thing in the morning and the energy in the room changed completely. That switch stuck, and so did the results.

The second was the engagement shoot. She loved how her arms looked in the photos. The first time it was obvious from the outside that this was working.

Where Caroline is now

  • Trains first thing in the morning and calls herself a gym person. Gabby thinks she'll keep it for life
  • Doing assisted pull-ups and dips, movements she never thought she'd do
  • Said "I never want to do Hyrox, that's his thing." Has now said yes to a tandem Hyrox with her fiancé
  • Feels confident trying on her wedding dress
  • 17 lbs down
  • 22 inches off across the board, 17 of them from her torso
  • Body fat from the mid 30s to about 32%, from the average range into the fit range
  • Lean mass up about 4 percentage points
  • Next: two sessions a week through the wedding, then reassess. Not stop. Reassess.

Gabby: "They make my day every day. Even if they show up sore, we all pivot together. So knowledgeable and willing to push through anything."

If you're like Caroline

If you already know what to do and you still haven't started, you don't need more information. You need someone to hand you the first small thing, a plan that survives your actual week, and a timeline. That's what Kraken's coaches do, and it tends to work even better when you bring a partner along. The free week is the push.
