James grew up playing competitive soccer at the metro level, and by his own account dealt with bullying and low confidence during those years — experiences he says built the resilience he now coaches from. When he stepped away from soccer, he found strength training and hypertrophy work, and it reshaped how he saw himself. He went on to compete in his first natural bodybuilding show, placing 2nd in Men's Physique Juniors and 4th in Classic Physique Juniors, and he's back on stage again this year.
He's BCRPA certified with a Kinetic Performance Level 1 credential, and before Kraken he trained clients at GoodLife Fitness as a Level 3 trainer. He's new to the team, but he made an impression fast: within his first month he had 8-9 clients and had already proposed his own retesting schedule — FMS retests and cardio assessments every 90 days — without anyone asking him to.
